Simple
'all-in-one' heighting, diameter & log volume instrument with data storage.

LaserAce® Hypsometer (a Pocket Series Instrument) was designed to help
foresters and arboriculturists easily and efficiently measure the height of a
tree, its diameter (at any height on the tree), simple or ‘taper’ log volumes
and tree lean. It is the only product on the market that has all these features
in one single unit!
The LaserAce® Hypsometer incorporates an onboard multifunction computer. This
computer stores results (up to 2000 trees) for later viewing and or downloading
to PCs or PDAs using its onboard Bluetooth® (or RS232) data link. Providing
users with a cableless data storage out in the field.
The internal ‘forestry’ software automatically carries out mathematical
calculations for instant field results.
LaserAce® Hypsometer is simple to use with selectable modes to suit the
required role.

What can it do?
Measure ranges The LaserAce® Hypsometer will measure ranges
up to 150m/ 500’ without a reflective target. Used with a prism (reflective
target) the unit can measure up to 600m/ 1000’
Measure Diameters The LaserAce® Hypsometer incorporates
specially designed (x 5 magnification) stadia hairs. During operation, these
(numbered) stadia hairs are used to bracket either side of a tree trunk. On
firing the laser, the user can determine the correct diameter of the tree (at
any point).

Measure height, lean and volume
The LaserAce® Hypsometer incorporates three different methods for measuring
heights depending on the users requirements.
- Single Point – point and shoot at the top of the tree – the LCD screen
at the side of the unit will display the results. Used if tree is located on
a flat plain ie. Park within a built up area
- 2-Point height – this mode is used for remote calculation of height and
distance between two successive points. The user just points and shoots at
the base of the tree then at the top of the tree. The unit again shows the
height on the LCD screen. This mode will also calculate the tree’s lean and
volume (the user can enter a taper factor if required for more accurate
volume measurements)
- 3-Point height uses one laser measurement to the middle of the tree then
two-angle measurements. This method is ideal if scrub is an issue at the
base of a tree and/ or the leaves are too thin at the top (or merge with
other trees so you can’t see the top). Other modes/ options

Brush filter mode (for use with reflective tape). If you
require a range to a specific tree/ object activate the ‘brush filter mode’.
This mode enables the laser to only pick up reflective prisms.
Critical range gating for area plots, add in a maximum
distance and the LaserAce® Hypsometer want measure outside that specified target
range.
Critical height/ diameter This mode allows users to enter
the taper factor of a tree and 'find' the height at which a specified diameter
is reached or the point up a tree at which a specified height or length is
reached.
The unit has been designed for simple, effortless use – point-and-shoot
technology. No need for bulky accessories, targets or responders. Simple
‘all-in-one’ heighting, diameter, lean and log volume instrument, affording
users considerable cost savings on field operations.
